Let me explain.
For several years my brother and I had been talking about putting together a video documentary about our dad. Anyone who knew him would tell you he was quite a character and at the spry age of 82, always had a story to tell!
What I wouldn't give to hear him tell another story or, for that matter, even one of the same stories he used to tell me over and over again.
The original idea for the video documentary was to travel around the area with a camera in hand, take video footage at some of the sites he worked on as a mason during the '50's, 60's and 70's and then have him talk about his experiences with those projects. Of course, we also planned to have him talk about life with our mother--raising 9 kids!
The working title was Brick by Brick, Stories of a Heartland Mason.
We were ready to begin filming in the summer of 2008. But apparently, the good Lord had other plans. Dad passed away unexpectedly that spring.
The grief was bad enough, but the added disappointment of not getting his life story, in his own voice and words, made it even worse.
The possibility of helping others avoid similar loss and disappointment is the foundation of our Living Legacy service. Everyone has a story to tell, a lifetime of special events, milestones, and advice to be shared and remembered. The word meaningful does not begin to describe what a wonderful, and affordable, gift this could be for your loved ones.
